Advice for a Happy Life
Wednesday, October 8th, 6:30-8pm
Free Public Talk
Everyone wishes for a happy life, free from problems but how do we achieve this? Buddha explained that happiness comes from improving our mind. Normally we seek happiness outside of ourselves. We try to obtain better material conditions, a better job, higher social status and so forth. But no matter how successful we are in improving our external situation, we still experience many problems and much dissatisfaction. We never experience pure, lasting happiness. This shows us that we should not seek happiness outside ourself but instead establish it within by purifying and controlling our mind through sincere spiritual practice. If we train in this way we can ensure that our mind remains calm and happy all the time. Then, no matter how difficult our external circumstances may be, we will always be happy and peaceful.

How to Solve Our Anger Problem
Wednesday, December 10th, 6:30pm-8pm
We may not even be aware of it, but we carry so much anger in us from the past. This anger manifests in different ways; in conflicted relationships, self-loathing, rage, disease and even fear. Buddha’s analysis of the mind enables us to understand clearly the inner source of anger. This insight gives us the ability to release our anger, freeing us to a joyful and peaceful life, in which even conflicts are embraced as opportunities for spiritual growth.
