Mala Making Workshop

Malas or prayer beads are used when reciting mantras and in other Buddhist practices. For Buddhist practitioners, their personal mala is a precious and meaningful object. Spend a morning learning the traditional technique of mala-making and how to incorporate mantra recitation into your meditation practice. The course will include a brief explanation of what mantra recitation is and how to engage in the practice of mantra recitation.

What to expect during this workshop:

  • Receive teachings on the preciousness of a mala

  • Learn the Buddhist technique for making and using a mala

  • Make your very own mala.

ABOUT the teacher

Gen Kelsang Tabkay is a Kadampa Buddhist monk and the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix. He has been a student of contemporary Buddhist Master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for many years. Gen Tabkay presents Buddhism and meditation in an accessible and clear way, dedicating himself to bringing peace into the hearts of others.
