For your convenience during the Coronavirus outbreak, we are continuing to offer all our weekly meditation classes and a range of special events streaming online with Resident Teacher and Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Tabkay.


Online Registration will close 10 minutes after class starts to ensure everyone has their link for the class. You will need to download the plugin to on your browser to participate only once.

Meditation for Modern Life

In each of these drop-in meditation classes, we will be learning meditations that will allow us to cultivate inner peace, wisdom, and will empower us with solutions to our daily problems.  We all have within us the potential for peace and happiness, and cultivating this potential creates the harmony we seek. Each class includes a relaxing breathing meditation, a teaching, a contemplative meditation, and a closing dedication.


The current series topic will be exploring a series of meditations from the New Meditation Handbook by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.  Each class can be attended individually, no need to attend the entire series. 

April 5 -- Equalizing Self and Others

Letting go of Anxiety

Many people suffer from feelings of fear and constant anxiety or are simply overwhelmed by the stress and demands of everyday life. In this meditation series, Kadampa Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Tabkay, will explore practical meditations and special ways of thinking that will help us to reduce and eventually let go of stress and anxiety.

Midday Meditation for a Peaceful mind

Simply Meditate

7 - 8 pm | $5 per person per class

Simply Meditate is a perfect opportunity to learn different meditations and the basics of meditation practice. Each class includes two guided 15-minute meditations and instructions that can easily be integrated into daily life.

Suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike, Simply Meditate helps everyone discover the profound benefits of engaging in meditation and learn how to develop a naturally peaceful, calm and happy mind.

Escape to Reality - A Guided Day Retreat

This retreat will be based on the liberating insights into reality from Venerable Geshe Keslang Gyatso Rinpoche's latest book, The Mirror of Dharma. By meditating on Buddha's teachings on reality, or emptiness, we can learn to free ourselves from our most stubborn bad habits, practically benefit others and immerse ourselves in a state of lasting peace.   


Each session will include a brief teaching, preparatory prayers and a guided meditation.

Our daily life is often so fast-paced, filled with activity, technology, and ever increasing stimulation. At the end of the day we can feel scattered, stressed, and emotionally unsettled. Over time we can carry a lot of stress and adopt unhealthy habits. Although we are more digitally connected than ever, we are increasingly disconnected from our peace of mind.

In this half day guided meditation retreat with Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Tabkay, you will find the space and time to truly de-stress, disconnect from digital life and reconnect with inner peace and contentment.

Through a special breathing meditation, combined with mental mantra recitation, you can detoxify your body, speech, and mind and improve your good heart. Bring greater peace and happiness into your life and the lives of those around you.

Facing Death: The Practice of Transference of Consciousness for the Deceased

Death is something that will happen to us all. How can relate to our own and others' mortality in a realistic and meaningful way? What can we do for our friends and loved ones once they have died? In this course, Gen Kelsang Tabkay will answer these questions from a Buddhist perspective and give an explanation of the practice of transference of consciousness, or Powa.

About the Teacher


Gen Kelsang Tabkay is a Kadampa Buddhist monk and the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix. He has been a student of contemporary Buddhist Master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 13 years, having received empowerments and lineage blessings directly from him. Gen Tabkay presents Buddhism and meditation in an accessible and clear way, dedicating himself to bringing peace into the hearts of others. He was previously the Education Program Coordinator and Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center South Carolina.

Refund and Cancelation

  • A registration will only be accepted when made online, and when all necessary information and payment has been received. Registrations are non-transferrable and a separate registration is required for each person attending

  • Registrants can cancel participation to a live class and receive a full refund by emailing at least 24 hours before the start date and time of the class.

  • No refunds are given within 1 hours of any class.

  • Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any live class as circumstances dictate
