Sunday Prayers for World Peace
Current Meditation Series:
Inner Strength: The Power to be Happy
Sundays 10:00am – 11:15am
With Gen Kelsang Tabkay
at Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix
“Through Practicing Buddha's teachings, we can develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time, so that we will be happy all the time; regardless of whether our external conditions are good or bad, if we maintain a peaceful mind all the time we will be happy all the time.”
-Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, The Mirror of Dharma
Inner strength allows us to maintain a peaceful mind in situations that would normally produce suffering. The greater our inner strength grows, the greater our ability to be happy will grow. In this meditation series we will be exploring some essential meditations and ways of thinking derived from Buddha's teachings that will allow our inner peace to become as stable as a mountain and as calm as the depths of an ocean.
What to expect:
These classes are open to everyone. They start with a welcome and guided breathing meditation to settle the mind, this usually lasts around 10-15 minutes.
Then there is an inspiring talk exploring practical methods derived from Buddha’s teachings to improve our daily happiness, solve our internal problems and move towards lasting peace of mind. The teachings are very practical in nature, drawing from everyday examples and showing how we can remain mindful of the insights we gain during the course of our daily life.
The class concludes with prayers for world peace and a second meditation, based on the ideas raised and some take away advice on how to implement the teaching into our day. These teachings are open to and appropriate for everyone, beginners or advanced practitioners, Buddhists or non-Buddhists.
